Samantha, aka "Sam", was the second born twin to Scarlett Denim and, from the moment of their birth, took the backseat to her sister's constant need for attention. Sam was not as pretty as her sister and grew to be quite shy and reserved. She often had her nose in a book or would spend hours doing research on the computer or at the library. She was socially awkward and didn't make friends very easily, but she had a brilliant mind and consistantly got above average grades in the toughest subjects. Her university study of mathematics led to her persuit of a medical career in adulthood. After being dragged to Riverview against her will by her ever-convincing twin sister, Samantha applied for a position at the County Care General Hospital where she focused her efforts on advancing in her career.

 

Sam tried to ignore Scarlett's whims and schemes, but she could not ignore the baby girl that Scarlett accidentally brought into the world.  As Scarlett wasn't the least bit interested in caring for her child, Samantha took on the responsibility out of necessity.  She didn't exactly have much spare time with all the hours she put in at the hospital, but Sam was determined to be a good serogate mother and to show Rose the love and attention she deserved.
